With the second anniversary of the flood coming up on June 20, the Town of High River wants to make sure its residents are prepared for future flooding.

Emergency management coordinator with the Town, Carly Benson, says they've launched a website called HRReady.ca that will keep residents informed during high-water events.

"We have a website that's hosted separately (from highriver.ca) so it provides that extra bit of security," she says. "And it's really, really simple, so it can handle high volumes of traffic."

Right now, the website is used to inform residents about where all the traffic closures are in town, but during an emergency event, residents would not only be informed of road closures, they could see any current warnings, as well as where any open reception centres are.

And Benson says another new feature they plan on adding to the site is a live web camera,

"One of the things we are hoping to do in the next few weeks is that we have a couple of river cameras, so we would install the live feed to the river cameras, so if people are curious, they can come look and see what the water levels are at."
