Over 300 performers have registered for this year's virtual version of the Highwood Lions Music Festival.

President of the festival board Chelsea Bustin says performers are just starting to submit their videos.

"Over the next few weeks our adjudicators will get to watch those videos, they'll get to provide feedback and constructive criticism as well as positive feedback for our performers," she says.

After that performers and adjudicators will get together over ZOOM for some group sessions.

She says at the heart of the festival is an opportunity to teach and mentor performers so they come away encouraged and with something positive they can incorporate in their music moving forward.

She adds if anyone is interested in it they can watch it between March 22 and April 17 and enter next year, hopefully in person.

"We would welcome the public to watch and encourage our performers, they can watch the YouTube performances and they can join the ZOOM adjudication sessions if they'd like to watch those as well" Bustin says.

They hope to have some kind of adjudicator's showcase later on.

"We're currently working on how we'll do it but there will be something for sure, we're not sure if it's going to be a special 'premiere' video event that people can tune into or if there's going to be a way to do something outside this summer, but we are kind of working on that, so people can stay tuned for details because that's always a highlight of our year.

Bustin says a schedule will be out any day with information and links for viewing the performances at highwoodmusicfestival.com.
