The Foothills was blanketed with more than the 2 cm of snow called for in the forecast.

At least 10 cm of snow fell early Saturday morning. 

It's also covering up melted snow from Friday causing some slippery driving conditions as well as on local sidewalks.

The wind out of the north is also expected to gust from 30 to 50 km/h.

And tonight's temperature is expected to drop to -16 degrees and with a high on Sunday of -2 the snow should remain until Boxing Day.

Christmas day should hit zero with the temperature climbing up to +6 by Boxing Day, Tuesday December 26.
