High River's Jason Glass did really well at last weekend's tarp auction for the Ponoka Stampede.

He welcomed back his longtime Chuckwagon sponsor with open arms.

Glass brought in the fourth highest total in the Ponoka Chuckwagon Tarp Auction last weekend with $25,000 shelled out from his longtime sponsor.

"Birchcliff Energy, they've been with our family for many, many years. They're an amazing group of people and a great company. Everything they do is just top notch. So, Birchcliff Energy has been amazing to our family for a long time."

The tarp auction also brought in a record amount with $576,500 brought in, up from $23,500 the previous year.

Other locals, Jordie Fike brought in $18,000 while Dayton Sutherland picked up $10,000.

Glass is really stoked for the season too after picking up a couple of horses from Mark Sutherland after he retired.

"Well, I think my team is looking really good. Ya know, I've got some new ones and the horses that I've kept from last year are very, very nice. So, we're pretty solid. I'm very excited to have a really good year."

Glass finished fourth overall in the WPCA standings last year and is eager for more this year.

The first WPCA event is the Grande Prairie Stompede from May 29 to June 2.
