The Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society wants to help people who need it during the COVID-19 crisis.

Normally, they're very specific in who they help, but now they're throwing open the doors.

Executive Director, Danna Ormstrup, says anybody who needs someone to just listen, should give them a call.

"Just because who we don't know who to talk to, we don't want to go out to talk to somebody, we don't even know what we want to talk about necessarily. We'll just listen. So there's no professional counselling involved. You don't have to be in a crisis. You just need to know that there's somebody there who's going to listen and sort of get it off your chest."

One group that always seems to get lost in the shuffle are teenagers and other youth.

Tracy Cuffe, a mentoring coordinator with Big Brothers and Sisters says she's there for them.

"Right now, I mean our youth are used to having their friends around. Virtually yes, but they're used to being in contact and going for walks and hanging out. But, at this point they're not allowed to. I want them to know that we're thinking about them and that they can reach out to us at any time. I'd love to talk to them. It's important that we make sure our youth are being checked in on, just as much as our adults and our kids."

Cuffe, along with Ormstrup and the others at the FFAS are manning their phones 24/7 to listen to anyone who wants to talk.

You can call them at (403)652-4776.
