Rotary Clubs in the Foothills could soon be adding to their roster of projects with the addition of a new park in Okotoks.

The Rotary Club in Okotoks once again is stepping up to help meet the needs of the community.

The club has passed the proceedings of a new park for the town. The vision for the potential park includes picnic tables and a picnic area. Next, the club will need to nail down the best location.

Okotoks Mayor Bill Robertson says there's multiple aspects to consider when looking for a prime piece of real estate.

"What are the necessary pieces to make that area into an actual public use park? Do we need parking in the area or is it an area where we already have parking? Do we need some power into there, picnic tables, pathways, should the pathways be paved or gravel pathways?"

Aside from the idea for the future park, Robertson says the rotary club has helped with a  variety of projects in Okotoks.

"Rotary does just a great job of coming up with projects and enhancing certain things. They've done pathways, Rotary Park, the RPAC, funding into those facilities. We're looking forward to it."

Robertson says the park would be adding another usable space to enhance the quality of life in town.
