The Town of Okotoks will likely be seeing some "industrial" changes in the new year. Industrial or commercial sector growth was one of the key recommendations by the Town's Community Planning Department in its recent municipal development review. Planner Steve Hanhart says there are very good prospects in the near future for bringing on industrial lands through a subdivision application, so there's a strong possibility Okotoks will see accelerated industrial growth in 2007. He says council will likely make the changes in order to keep industrial tax assesments comparable to residential-- which have been growing at a very high rate. Hanhart adds there are many changes needed to accomodate the move, including a second river crossing, and a few land annexations on the outskirts of town.
