A new report shows patients in Alberta had to wait on average over an hour to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic last year.

They waited 66 minutes, 32 minutes longer than in 2022.

The data is from Medimap, a Canadian tech company that matches patients with walk-in clinics, pharmacists and allied health professionals.

Thomas Jankowski, CEO of Medimap, says while the average wait time in Alberta remains slightly lower than the national average at 68 minutes, it was the second biggest jump in average wait times across the country compared to 2022.

The city with the longest average wait time in Alberta in 2023 was Edmonton at 73 minutes, followed by Red Deer and Grande Prairie at 72 minutes each.
