The RCMP are taking steps to return seized weapons to their rightful owners.

Staff Sgt. Brian Jones says all the owners have to do is to call them to make arrangements. "Those residents that want their firearms returned, we're certainly going to facilitate that, but we are certainly able to hold on to those and we have received some feedback, we have been contacted by some residents who are appreciative of the fact they know where they (guns) are and that they're secure and they will contact us once they get their house and things back in good order, and we're certainly willing to do that for them."

The owners are asked to call the High River detachment at 403-652-2356.

He says anyone who discovers damage to their homes from police gaining entry should call the same number to get the process going. "If they have that equipment available to photograph that and assess that and take the steps necessary to repair it, RCMP officers will stop by and confirm that and we're also going to be checking those residences off against the list that we're generating of those homes that were entered through the course of this search and rescue operation."

They're also setting up a process to reunite automobiles with their owners with more details to be released through the town's website Monday.
