Okotoks RCMP are among the Calgary-area detachments warning residents about a string of recent break-ins and thefts.

Detachments in Strathmore, Chestermere, and Okotoks have all responded to reports of break-and-enters and theft from vehicles, which they believe are being carried out by the same suspects.

The suspects have reportedly been entering vehicles, taking garage door openers and vehicle registration info.

They then return later to enter victims' homes.

Police have released images of the suspects and their vehicle.

According to the RCMP, some of these incidents have happened while homeowners were away on camping trips.

They've released some tips to avoid these kinds of incidents:

  • Secure your vehicle, even when camping or in remote locations
  • Consider not keeping garage door openers and documents with your home address in your vehicle
  • Ensure all thefts from vehicles are reported to the police

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call their local RCMP detachment. You can also submit information anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app.
