Another Snowfall Warning has been issued in the Foothills, with a second round of heavy snow expected.

It was issued at 3:42 p.m., with Environment Canada cautioning of snowfall amounts as high as 30-50 cm anticipated tonight (April 30) and into tomorrow.

The warning is in place for the following regions areas:

  • Foothills Co. near Diamond Valley
  • Foothills Co. near Okotoks and De Winton
  • Foothills Co. near Priddis and Brown-Lowery Prov. Park
  • Rocky View Co. near Bragg Creek and Tsuu T'ina Res.
  • Foothills Co. near Longview and Eden Valley Res.

Warnings were also issued in other areas of Southern Alberta including areas in and around Calgary, Kananaskis, Cochrane, Sundre, and Olds.

The heavy snowfall is expected to lighten up on Wednesday night and taper off on Thursday evening.

Just like the storm that started on Monday night and carried into today, travel conditions aren't anticipated to be favourable.

Power outages and bus cancellations occurred across much of the Foothills this morning following the snowfall, and more could follow with the snow anticipated to fall tonight and tomorrow.
