A semi-trailer has flipped over on Hwy 2 and has blocked traffic.

The incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. and is affecting northbound traffic on Hwy 2 and 594 Ave. East.

According to 511 Alberta all lanes are closed with a detour in place onto 594th Ave. E onto Range Road 290 aka Hwy 2A.

Expect major delays.

A large tow truck arrived at 7:15 a.m. to assist with removing the semi-trailer from the road.
