Some rural school buses have been cancelled due to the road and weather conditions.

The Foothills School Division is also asking parents to pick up their children from non-rural schools if they want.

Here's the latest from the Foothills School Division:

UPDATE 12:15pm - Road conditions in rural areas are continuing to decline as the winter storm continues.

School buses will attempt to provide afternoon transportation but delays and/or cancellations can be expected in certain areas due to local road conditions.  We will not be arranging for early bus service as we cannot expect that every home will have an adult present to receive children.

Parents who reside in rural areas are encouraged to pick up their children before the end of the day if they can safely do so.

All schools will remain open and operational.  We will continue to supervise and care for students.

Our transportation department will contact parents directly in the event that a school bus cannot safely complete its afternoon route.  The bus will return to the school where students will be supervised until alternate arrangements can be made.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide any updates on our website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.
