With continued extreme cold conditions, Strathcona Tweedsmuir School has announced they'll be closed today (Wednesday, Dec. 21).

The decision was made due to safety concerns, according to a release from the school:

"This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, noting that several heating and mechanical systems on our campus were already impacted due to cold today."

They also cited dangerous conditions for buses, paired with wait times in excess of 12 hours for tow trucks.

They're expecting to reopen on Thursday, Dec. 22.
