Okotoks entrepreneurs will hopefully have an easier time getting started with the help of an online form recently launched by the town.

Their new Business Development Intake Form is aimed at simplifying the application and permitting process for those looking to launch an at-home or storefront business in Okotoks; one that prospective business owners have had difficulty with in the past.

Because of this, the town consulted with the business community when creating the new form in order to identify challenging aspects of the application process.

The new form is purported to reduce wait times and increase efficiency in the journey to acquiring a business license, including the permitting process leading up to it.

Economic Development Manager Colleen Thome was quoted in a release, stating the town has already received some positive feedback from business owners.

“We are already hearing from businesses that this new form is making it easier and quicker for them to open their doors.”

According to a release from the town, it's the first of several initiatives designed to reduce red tape, with future plans including a refined economic development webpage, and establishing a streamlined online permitting system.
