An early morning investigation  lead Calgary Police Members to find two bodies in a heavily wooded area of Kananaskis Country today.

The bodies Calgary Police Service believes, are that of Jasmine Lovett and her 22 month old daughter Aliyah Sanderson, were found off of highway 40 near Grizzly Creek.

Autopsies will begin today, as will formal identification of the bodies by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.

Police have said they don't believe the cause of death will be released to the public.

Currently, CPS Officers say they have one man in custody and will release information on their suspect after he has been formally charged by a Justice of the Peace.

The suspect in custody has been confirmed as the same man that was taken into custody two weeks ago.

Calgary Police Officials say they won't be releasing any details about what lead to the discovery, in order to protect the integrity of this investigation and future court proceedings.

More information will be released after the suspect in custody has been formally charged.

The Lovett family has issued the following statement, thanking police for their investigation.

“ Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Calgary Police Service as well as those who have worked diligently in the search for Jasmine and her baby girl Aliyah. We would also like to thank the public for their continued support which has meant a great deal to us. Our lives have been devastated and our hearts are heavy. We are trying to understand how this tragedy could have happened to our loved ones.”
