Diamond Valley Fire Rescue responded to a large grass fire yesterday, which was reportedly started by a group of youths.

According to a media release from Friday evening, the fire was reported at around 4:15 p.m.

The grass fire was burning near Robert Sreet, and moving quickly into a wooded area.

Multiple engines responded to the scene, and fire personnel had some assistance from municipal enforcement.

Luckily their response was quick enough that the blaze didn't reach nearby homes.

According to Diamond Valley Fire Rescue, the residents who had called 911 reported that they had seen youths playing in the area, who are believed to have started the fire.

This was the second fire in two days believed to have been started by local youth.

The RCMP have located those believed to have started the fire, and are investigating.
