Alberta’s Information and Privacy Commissioner will be holding an inquiry into the what's been dubbed the "Gun Grab" in High River during the 2013 flood.

Livingstone-Macleod MLA Roger Reid says he's surprised the issue's resurfaced after so long.

He says he never heard about it while knocking on doors during his campaign...

"There were certainly questions about properties and some flood mitigation things that came up, but it's been a relatively quiet issue in the last year since I've been doing this."

Reid says even though it's long past, there's still some good that could come from it.

"I think, you know, that information is essential to people having some confidence. We'll see what the privacy commissioner comes up with. Like I said, I've reached out to the solicitor generals office and we'll see if they have any more information for us that we can pass on."

He says it was a surprise he didn't hear anything about it during the provincial election campaign in the Spring.
