Despite the Sheep River Flood Map Survey being wrapped up since January residents can still learn about the potential effects.

Black Diamond Mayor Ruth Goodwin says these surveys are extremely important as they affect the whole town.

"The Flood Hazard Study will influence future flood mapping, it will have an impact on individual community members, private insurance rates and development. We have large sections within Black Diamond that this will impact, so we wanted to make sure to put the word out to all of our residents to get active."

Goodwin says people can still be a part of the survey even if they didn't participate.

"If people are interested in that survey, really it's an education process, go on the Alberta Government website and type in Sheep River Flood Mapping."

The Alberta Government has yet to release any information in response to the feedback however has said they are "currently reviewing feedback."
