It's going to be a big year at the Oilfields Curling Club in Black Diamond.

Club Manager Mike Libbus says the biggest event will be the Alberta Mixed Curling Playdowns being held there in March.

"The Alberta Curling Federation phoned us about a year and a half ago just to see if we were interested in hosting that event. We've paid our dues over the last few years, we've hosted a lot of district's and southern's for the the Southern Alberta Curling Association, so this is a little payback for the club to host such a big event."

As well the club, along with the High River Curling Club will host a World Curling Tour event in late November.

Libbus says he's really hoping they get the curling rink in High River up and running soon.

"We want to definitely see them going, because when we host that World Curling Tour event in November it's going to be co-hosted with the High River Curling Club. We need that event to go because we're going to have 16 men's and 16 women's teams. And without High River that event's going to be a little tougher to run."

The Oilfields will also host the Ladies Southern Alberta Playdowns in December.
