A shooting at a campground just east of Calgary has left one person dead.

Strathmore RCMP responded to a 911 call in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 28, shortly after midnight.

The RCMP and EMS arrived at the Mountain View Campground on RR 284 and Highway 1 to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 26-year-old man ended up succumbing to his injuries at the scene.

An autopsy has been scheduled for today, (Monday, Jan. 29) at the Calgary Medical Examiner's office. It's expected the name of the deceased will be released then.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit is leading the investigation and is asking for your assistance if you can help in the investigation.
