The Okotoks Dawgs have improved to a 12-1 record in the 2024 WCBL season after taking tonight's game against the Edmonton Prospects 7-2.

The game would see Edmonton play host to the Dawgs at Seaman Stadium due to issues with the Prospects field.

With the Prospects being the home team on the Dawgs' field, Okotoks started the game at bat.

Gavin Wuschke got the win after starting on the mound for the Dawgs, he would get three strikeouts in the four innings he played and wouldn't allow a single run to cross home plate.

Okotoks was first on the board after designated hitter for the night, Jacob Wrubleski scored a run on an error made by the Prospects' first basemen.

The Dawgs held onto a 1-0 lead until the top of the sixth which saw Tucker Zdunich hit a single to right field scoring Jarrett Burney in for his first run in his first ever game with the Dawgs.

Connor Crowson added to the lead in the same inning when Logan Grant hit a sacrifice fly for the second out in the top of the sixth.

The Prospects would finally answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh cutting the Dawgs lead to just one.

Barry Eiseman's single to right field would be enough to get Crowson across home plate in the top of the eighth giving the Dawgs a two-run lead, answering the Prospects two runs in the previous inning.

The top of the ninth would be all Dawgs as they got three runs in to take a 7-2 lead and closed the game without allowing the Prospects to get runs in during the bottom of the ninth.

Crowson ended up with a run and an RBI in the bottom of the ninth. Burney would get his second run of the game and looked like he fit right in with the Dawgs squad in his first game with the team.

Dawgs are back at it tomorrow night, except they will be back to being the home team at Seaman Stadium as they host the Prospects for the second of back-to-backs against Edmonton.

The first pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
