The Okotoks Dawgs have announced their "Hall of Fame" inductees for this year.

Darryl "Doc" Seaman and former Okotoks Mayor Bill McAlpine will be honoured during the Dawgs awards night in January.

Dawgs Managing Director John Ircandia says "Doc" Seaman loved Okotoks and the Foothills and was only too happy to help bring the Dawgs to town.

"I was so pleased that before he passed away, he was able to come to some of our games and really take in the impact of the facility that bears his and his brother Don's family name, had on the community. And I know in talking to him at that time, he was surprised, pleasantly and really pleased at the impact it had on the community."

Ircandia says McAlpine deserves a lot of credit too.

"Probably more than anyone else he's the one who sold us on the community of Okotoks and the Foothills generally. The plan was to build it in the MD of Foothills in a different location. And when that failed he stuck to his guns and said 'Ok, we want this in Okotoks.' You need partners and you need the money to build a stadium, but you also need a community that's going to embrace the stadium and he delivered part 'B' of that formula."

The pair will be inducted during the Dawgs annual awards night on January 30.
