2016 could be another lean year for local chuckwagon drivers as the oil patch continues to struggle with low prices.

High River's Jordie Fike says he's already preparing for how that will effect his season.

"I've got lots of great support with my sponsorship both locally and in Calgary. Things are looking fairly decent. I'm not expecting a record year that's for sure. But you've got to be optimistic. And I've been a little bit frugal this year with new horses and stuff, just preparing for what looks like it's going to be a little tougher year financially."

Fike took a bit of a tumble in 2015, finishing in 16th spot in the driver standings, down from his best ever finish of 10th in 2014.

He says he's confident he can get back into the top 10 this season and is hoping to finally get a show win under his belt.
