Former Okotoks Oiler Nick Blankenburg is moving to Nashville after signing a two-year deal with the Predators.

Blankenburg played three seasons in Columbus with the Blue Jackets after finishing four seasons with the University of Michigan in the NCAA.

In his years with the Blue Jackets, Blankenburg posted 18 points in 55 games, six points came from goals. The defenceman would also split time with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) last year, dressing in 24 games and putting up 13 points.

When Blankenburg was with the Okotoks Oilers, he was seventh in scoring with 42 points in 57 games. He added another 12 points in 15 games during the 2017-2018 postseason.

The 26-year-old from Washington, Michigan signed his new deal with the Predators on the opening day of the NHL free agency on July 1st. The deal is a two-year term with him making USD 775,000 annually. 

Blankenburg was a teammate of Dylan Holloway and Jacob Bernard-Docker during the 2017-2018 AJHL season.
  
Nashville and Blankenburg will visit Calgary to face the Flames on Nov. 15th.
