A trio of Okotoks lacrosse teams celebrated Canada Day with a chance at winning gold.

The Calgary Canada Day Lacrosse Tournament took place over the weekend and when the final games were set, three local teams were ready to battle for the big prize.

After going undefeated in the round-robin stage, The U11 D2-B1 Raiders faced North Okanagan in the final. The Legends jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Raiders jumped back, eventually tying the game with two seconds left.

Unfortunately, the Legends would close out the game in overtime winning 8-7.

The U15C Raiders finished second in their pool, setting up a match with the unbeaten Grande Prairie Thrashers, who would win the gold medal with a 6-2 win over the Raiders.

Finally, the U15 HOKS South team faced the Red Deer Chiefs in the gold medal game of the U15A division. The Chiefs though proved too much for the HOKS as they won 10-4.

A total five teams from the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association participated in the annual tournament.
