Highwood High School is sending five of its track and field students to Provincials after a successful trip to the South-Central Zones championships.

The South-Central Zone championships were held last Wednesday (May 22) at Calgary's Foothills Athletic Park and saw Kirstyn Keller, Jacob Mcleish, Nathan Johnstone, Mike Schultz, and Ethan Rich qualify for Provincials which will be held from June 7-8 in Edmonton.

Keller came in first during the Junior Girls 100m race with a time of 13.59.

Mcleish qualified for provincials in three events for Senior boys with a long jump with a jump of 5.65m, discus with a throw of 29.69m, and as anchor of the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.72. Johnstone, Schultz, and Rich were also on the 4x100 relay and will join Mcleish at Provincials. Johnstone also finished third in Javelin with a 36.5 m throw, and third in shot put with a 10.21m throw.

With the efforts of the athletes, all five will be heading to Edmonton to make High River and the Highwood High School proud.
