Okotoks' Howard Park will be getting two new recreational amenities in the near future.

It'll be the site of the planned skate park that the town has been taking input for over the last few months.

They've been gathering feedback from locals on what they'd like to see at the park in terms of design, including in a recent survey and a design open house.

Construction on the park is set to begin this summer.

The skate park will replace the old playground at the park, but a second planned project could see a new playground installed there.

A new accessible playground is planned, with the town having received $100,000 for it through the federal Enabling Accessibility Fund.

The project will come before council for approval this year, and if approved, construction would start next year.
