After 20 years with the club, the last 10 as General Manager, the Okotoks Bisons will have to get along without Jay McFarlane at the helm next season.

He made it official, announcing he was stepping down as the Club's GM at their awards night Saturday.

McFarlane says he's accomplished all of his goals in his time with the club.

"We've been very, very luck with the success the team has had during my reign. It's very addictive winning and being successful. But more importantly, just the people I've been involved with over the years, players and staff and boards of directors and fans. That's the stuff that I'm going to hold just as close."

Under McFarlane the Bisons won five Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League titles, including four in a row between 2011 and 2014.

The won a Provincial silver medal in 2012, and earned their one and only Provincial gold medal championship in 2013, going on the claim a Bronze in their appearance at that year's Keystone Cup Western Canadian Junior "B" Hockey Championships.

McFarlane will remain with the team on their board of directors.
