Okotoks Oilers goaltender, Ashton Abel is the AJHL's Defensive Player of the Week.

He improved his record to 15-0-and-1 this past weekend with a couple of wins over Olds and Camrose.

It's the second time he's won the award in less than a month.

With his first coming back on the week of October 14th to the 20th.

Abel leads the league with a 1.58 GAA and a save percentage of .932.

The Oilers are riding a six game winning streak as they host the Canmore Eagles Friday, November 15 and the Drumheller Dragons Saturday, November 16.

They trail the Brooks Bandits for top spot in the AJHL's South Division.

The Bandits had their record breaking season opening winning streak snapped at 23 games over the weekend, with a 5-4 loss to the Spruce Grove Saints.

The Oilers are eight points back of the Bandits, but 10 up on the third place Dragons.
