The Okotoks Oilers are back in town this weekend as the team will be holding it's Top prospects camp.

Veterans and those who made the grade of the Oilers spring camp will be in attendance, those who fare well over the weekend will get an invite to the team's main camp in late August.

Oilers President of Business & Hockey Operation Brad Robson says because the Oilers are bring so many returnees the camp will not just be looking for impacts players this coming season.

"We really concentrated on a probably larger group than the norm would be in regards of the 2000's and most of those players are a year away but we want to identify them and let them know who we are as a hockey club."

With the Oilers top two scorers graduating in Colin O'Neill and Matt McNair, Robson says the Oilers will need veterans to come into their own with added responsibilities this coming year.

"This summer is very important for them and this camp is also very important I think with all the vets coming back with expect more from them and I think all of our veteran forwards with McNair and O'Neill gone that others are going to have to step up this year as they'll be playing a more important role with the hockey club."

Robson says the group of potential rookies coming to camp is strong.

"We're pretty excited with some of the 98's we have coming into camp like Kyle Gordon, Mac Mindus, Regan Doig who played some games with us we have some 98 defencemen coming in Cooper Krause and Zach Bokenfor as a 99."

The camp will conclude with it's black and white game on Sunday morning starting at 10 a.m. at Pason Centennial Arena and the public is welcome to come out and watch.
