With main camp just a few weeks away members of the Okotoks Oilers will be rolling into town this coming week for their conditioning camp.

As its obvious title states it will be a chance for the organization's brass to see how far each of their returning and top prospects have come since the team's spring and Top 40 camps.

Head Coach Tyler Deis says it's going to be a busy week of evaluating players getting them set for the 2016-17 season.

"We'll be getting a few of our returning players and some of our top prospects coming in and it's under our development regime." he says. "They'll be coming in and we'll be putting them through skills and conditioning and getting them ready for main camp and the upcoming season."

Like most coaches in any sport Deis is hoping his squad is ready to go come the start of camp.

"I don't think we should have an issue with these kids coming in not prepared, it's their job to come in ready. Obviously if they come and they're not in shape or anything like that, that's on them and they have to be accountable for that. But it's just to get everyone in, get ready, work on skills, development, work on conditioning and some tactics and technical aspects."

With the season opener just over a month away, there's plenty of returning players coming back from last year's roster including three overage veterans in Jordie Lawson, Trey deGraff and Jordan Davies.

With the potential to add three more 20 year olds, Deis says with the depth on their roster they won't be making any moves anytime soon.

"Right now we like the guys that are coming here and it's their team, hopefully they're ready and prepared for the season we think we have a great team as we have it right now. We're excited with all of it and right now there is no changes in the future."

Conditioning camp runs all week, with the Oilers exhibition circuit beginning September 1 with their exhibition tournament with the Calgary Mustangs, Calgary Canucks and Drumheller Dragons.
