Okotoks RCMP have made an arrest following a chase that occurred on Monday night.

Sometime after midnight on September 22nd, officers responded to a male calling for help in the Westmount School area.

The man fled on foot when officers arrived at the scene.

RCMP led a search for the man that saw assistance from HAWC Helicopter units and RCMP Police Dog Services.

Later on Tuesday evening, 22-year-old Samual Avery Hutton of Okotoks turned himself in to police and was arrested.

He's facing charges for resisting arrest, failure to comply with conditions of release, and possession of a controlled substance.

Hutton remains in custody and is set to appear before a Justice of the Peace via telephone, during which his release conditions will be determined.

In a media release, Okotoks RCMP extended thanks to a few members of the public:

"Okotoks RCMP thank the public who encountered officers during this event for their cooperation and remind the public to remain alert when police are active in unfolding events.  In this case the public was not at risk and no additional media releases are anticipated."
