The Crowds are gone and the cheering is over, now it's back to normal for the folks who put on the Scotties Alberta Provincial Curling Playdowns last week in Okotoks.

Curling Club Manager and Tournament Chair, Mike Libbus, says it was a great show and a lot of work.

"Yeah, it's been a great week. It's a little bitter-sweet now that it's all over. We've put a lot of effort into this past year, but we're ready to move on and get back to the regular curling season."

It took a small army of volunteers to not only transform the hockey rink into a world class curling facility for the five days of competition, but to make sure the athletes, and the fans were well taken care of.

Libbus, says he couldn't have done any of it without the 170-plus volunteers who worked so hard to pull it all off.

"Big thanks to all the volunteers, my co chair Atina Johnson's been a great leader all week and all year and kept everybody in line and we get lots of support here in Okotoks and at our curling club. Any event we take on we seem to get this kind of support and we can't thank them enough."

Libbus says without the hard work and dedication of his ice crew and the volunteers they couldn't have transformed the Murray Arena from a hockey rink into a world class curling facility.
