No luck for the locals at the Saskatoon Chuckwagon Championships over the weekend.

Penalty trouble Saturday cost High River's Jason Glass his shot at the title, leaving it open for Vern Nolin to pick up his first ever WPCA title.

He says plenty of credit has to go to his outriders.

"They stuck behind me and gave me 110% to get this win. And that shows the world and myself that these outriders are more professional athletes than anybody on Earth."

It's Nolin's first year on the WPCA tour after coming over from the CPCA in the offseason.

Glass finished 10th, while High River's Jordie Fike finished 28th, with Okotoks Mark Suthererland in 35th.

The driver's now pack up and head to Medicine Hat for the Stampede starting Wednesday, June 16.
